Governor’s Vision: MAINE towns as ‘Industrial Windfarms’

The Governor’s ‘Task Force on Wind Energy’ and the Maine legislature has put its stamp of approval on a program to BAN the development of wind power projects in the unpopulated areas of the state of Maine. Fearing that this unsightly and obnoxious development may be harmful to wildlife and offend recreationalist sensibilites, the state has decided that the best place for industrial wind development is in Maine’s small communities. In the politics of siting industrial wind projects, birds, bats and recreationalists have many strong advocates, while small community populations are often less well equipped to defend themselves from invasion by well funded, slick developers encouraged by state mandate. The ‘pliability’ of small communities that the state is counting on to enable this development is directly contingent upon a lack of information and organization among their populations. This website is here to provide a resource for those communities that wish to address the Governor’s agenda and the inevitable effect that it will have on their land, their landscape and the peace and quiet of their towns.

An Open Invitation to all Maine Towns Facing Industrial Wind Development
Any Maine town, interested individual or group in a community that is being targeted for industrial wind development is invited to use this resource to host a website and webforum for their community. Their website can be constructed within these pages to focus on information that is relevant to their town’s development. At the same time, it will be available to all those communities and interested parties in Maine that are struggling with this issue. Additionally, the town or group can set up their own WebForum to serve as a ‘bulletin board’ to post information and announcements about their town’s ongoing activities, meetings, etc. related to the issue as well as a forum for free and open discussion of all aspects of industrial wind development in their town. Anyone interested in adding their town’s website to these pages and setting up their town’s WebForum should contact Mark Aman at 207 834 3417 or HERE.
